green-door-vegan-leather-crossbody
Green Door Vegan Leather Crossbody
Small yet mighty! The vegan leather crossbody purse keeps all your essentials close at hand. The door was brand new. The years were painted on.

This print began with a door I sanded, primed, and aged by hand. I tinted white primer to a warm beige, placed wax and shellac in selected areas, then applied a green paint I tinted myself. I chipped and peeled the paint back where the wax resisted it, used alcohol to coax crackling in the shellac-treated areas, and finished with a dark brown wash to settle into the grain, cracks, and corners.

Every layer helped build the impression of a door that had weathered years of use.

A photograph of that finished surface becomes the all-over print on this compact crossbody: olive green paint, exposed beige, and darkened recesses, reproduced on textured vegan pebble leather.
